Ageing out of fun?

Ageing out of fun?

I am still in my 20s. I pinch myself to remember. I seem to have lost track of time and space in the midst of a global pandemic. Some days I hold the precious memories I made close to my heart, other days I want to complain to a manager and get a refund. I have spent almost four years of just adulting. Head down, buried in work and study, no more crazy adventures. And I am honestly so bored. Is this really meant to be the end?

Are we no longer allowed to have fun as adults? Are we expected to say goodbye to the fun of our youth? Well, frankly I refuse. I hate age limits on anything. I remember being at the park and seeing that all the climbing frames had an age limit of fifteen years. As a petite sixteen year old I remember thinking how unfair that was and how much fun I used to have on the climbing frames and obstacle courses, not to mentions the swings. Why aren’t we allowed to have fun anymore. I admire adults who learn challenging hobbies in their adulthood, like instruments, ballet, rockclimbing, use tiktok and make videos that they want to make, do silly challenges, create memories with friends, people who dance whenever they want, sing whenever they want, go wherever they please. They do want makes them feel good because we only have one life.

If we lead it according to other people’s expectations then we will never be happy. Why is it that when you are 30 you must be married and have children? I am sure that suits plenty of people fine but what about the rest of us? Furthermore, what if you cannot have kids, then what does society expect you to do? To just sit around and be sad about it? There is more than one way to live your life and unconvention is the spice of life. Quite honestly, I wonder what goes through the mind of sheeple who think that there is no way other than what is presented in front of them. I can’t think of anything worse.

In addition, we live in 2021, life is nothing like it once was many years ago. Even having a career is not as straight-forward as it used to be and people now are thinking about multiple streams of income. We have so much to worry about in our daily lives, why do people turn their noses up at those who live freely and happily? It must be resentment because there is no ageing out of fun. I never want to look in the mirror and not recognise myself, the joy I feel when going to karaoke, dancing around in my bedroom to my favourite songs, playing board games and video games, running around just because. You are never EVER too old to do what makes you happy. So go to a theme park, get on a ride and scream. You know, if that’s your cup of tea.
