How it started vs. How it's going?

How it started vs. How it's going?

We are well into summer 2021! Mandatory mask use has been revoked by governments (though I will not part with mine.) But the government here are instigating a use of green passes in order to go out and around to museums, clubs, galleries etc. I am not really keen on the idea of monitoring where people go in such a way. Furthermore, it definitely isolates people who are not able to get the vaccine for whichever reason. I know many students who have been trapped here since the start of the pandemic and have not yet been able to register for health cards etc. What about refugees and other people here with undocumented status? Foreigners who come from another country outside of the EU who are not using these methods. I do not know. This is my opinion but it just does not sit right with me. I myself have just had the first dose of the vaccine and luckily I feel fine. I am glad that now I am able to move around with more ease but I know it is not the same for everyone.

My summer has been pretty lovely. June was spent traveling to exciting and beautiful places like Bergamo, Monza and Sirmione. I spent long days sitting in the park with drinks. Eating ice cream and reading books. Quite idyllic if I say so myself. July however, was a little different as I have been working non-stop this month and I moved apartments. This was a challenge because I had to move out of the first apartment without a new apartment secured. All is well though, I am currently sitting in my new place. A glorious attic studio in the building of a former theatre. Great or what? Now the busiest of my summer is starting to wind down I will allow myself to do some more nice things. I am working on being kinder to myself. I am someone who has always defined myself by work and thats something I am really trying to strip back during this pandemic. Things are loads better. We can go outside now. Things are getting back to normal. I’ve been back to Venice to see friends. Enjoyed some amazing meals and spent time with friends. The only thing is that last year during the height of the pandemic, my fitness levels were through the roof. I most definiely have fallen off the wagon and now I am trying to get back into fitness.

But after a year like last year please excuse me if all I want to do is lay in the grass with a lovely summery cocktail and a book in my hand. I hope you are spending your summer in the best way for you too.
